It seems only a few weeks ago everyone was eagerly looking forward to the summer months arriving and now here we are with autumn almost upon us. However, in terms of our work in the park it has been a really busy few months for the group and our fundraising events have exceeded all our expectations.

Once again the seasonal ranger joined us for the summer months and her assistance was very much appreciated. Some of the group helped Rachel repair and paint the wooden structures in the Japanese garden, re-stain our three picnic tables and give Mac’s seats in our wildflower area, a new lick of paint. Several craft events for our younger visitors were very successful, as was our first ever fun dog show- this was a first for the park, but will certainly become an annual fixture!

Our own fun day was our best ever – hard work by group members ensured we had a  varied selection of attractions and stalls, the sun shone all day and visitors turned up in their hundreds! Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, stall holders and private donations, £870.00 has been added to friend’s funds. Monies will be spent over the coming months increasing the number of picnic tables in the park, replacing a couple of litter bins and replenishing our flower beds and gardens.

As ever our small group of volunteers has achieved a great deal this year and my thanks go to everyone who has contributed their time and skills.

    Chris Cribbin.
